Unveiling the Mysteries of Hypnosis: Exploring the Power of the Mind

Back in the day, people used to think hypnosis was some kind of magical spell that made you do crazy things, like in the movies. But in reality, it’s not like that at all!

You might have seen it on TV shows where someone swings a pocket watch and whispers, “You’re getting sleepy…” and people wake up with a click.

Remember when you used to play with your friends and try to control their minds, thinking that you might be successful and make them do silly things? Well, let’s see what actually is Hypnosis.

Once you’re there, your mind becomes extra open to suggestions. It’s sort of like when you daydream and imagine things really vividly. But the best part is, during hypnosis, you can use that openness to make positive changes in your life.

People often use hypnosis to help with stuff like quitting bad habits, feeling less stressed, or even boosting their confidence. And the best part? You’re always in control—you can’t be made to do anything you don’t want to. So, think of hypnosis as a kind of mental power-up, helping you tap into your inner strengths and feel awesome.

Now, when we are talking about hypnosis it is divided into two parts: a conscious mind and an unconscious mind.

Your conscious mind works when you are deeply focused on something for example as you are reading this text. You are using your whole brain power to understand every single word and every piece of information that is given here. But in reality, your conscious mind can only deal with between 7 and 9 bits of information at any given time.

That’s because you cannot consciously focus on so many things at once before they start to get confusing and you lose track of some of them.

But your subconscious mind is totally different.

The subconscious mind stores all the information, even past memories, feelings, and sensations

That’s why when it is time to let go of past experiences or the emotions attached to them, you need to tap into the power of your subconscious mind.

In your subconscious mind, you can find answers to questions and situations that are causing you to feel “stuck” in life. It also helps to activate your inner creativity and potential that is naturally inside you.

But to do all those things it needs absolute focus and conscious attention. And here’s where hypnosis plays the role. You are in a hypnotic state almost in your everyday life.

  • When you are dreaming.
  • When you are doing a pleasant task and you lose track of time.
  • When you are doing a boring task while thinking about something else to the degree that you can’t actually remember performing the task.
  • Hypnosis is induced in this kind of relaxed state of awareness. Once your mind is in a relaxed state, any therapeutic suggestions can greatly change your attitude perceptions, and behaviors.

Myths about hypnosis or hypnotherapy

It is a common belief that once a person gets hypnotized we can make a person do anything according to our will.

But in reality, opposite to this belief, you can’t be hypnotized into doing things against your will. And one can’t be easily tabbed into the hypnotic state. It all depends upon the person who wants to be hypnotized. It is a volunteering decision and you can always control your mind.

Hypnosis can help in curing many psychological and emotional issues:

  • Anxiety
  • Asthma
  • Chronic pain
  • Stress
  • Fears and phobias
  • Smoking
  • Stuttering
  • Insomnia
  • Migraine

Risks of hypnosis:

While hypnosis has many benefits over the psychological and emotional imbalances it can also have some side effects such as:

  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Anxiety
  • Stomach pain
  • False memories

So in conclusion hypnosis is not “controlling mind”. In order for someone to be hypnotized, they have to be willing to participate.

Hypnosis is just a relaxed state of mind where you focus your thoughts and energy inside, instead of focusing on the outer world. You are actually experiencing “trance” which is actually a relaxed state of mind where you are able to forget about your worries for a short period of time.
